Several people will be filling in for her, including Sheryl Underwood and journalist Kara Swisher
She will not be on The View, but will still appear on The Weekend View
Daytime TV is about to have a little less joy — Joy Behar, that is.
The longtime co-host of The View will be taking some time off in the upcoming weeks, but she will be using her days away to work on theater projects.
Her planned vacation was first announced on the May 26 episode of the Behind the Table podcast. Behar addressed it during the May 29 broadcast of The View.
"So, there's been a lot of media attention on me right lately because I'm taking off the next two weeks," Behar said at the end of the broadcast. "They're calling it a hiatus. It's not a hiatus."
Here's why Joy Behar is briefly stepping away from The View — and when she'll be returning.

Behar isn't hosting The View because she is traveling to Paris and performing her stage play, My First Ex-Husband, in London.
Behar appeared on the May 26 episode of The View companion podcast, Behind the Table, and during the conversation, The View producer Brian Teta revealed that it would be her "last podcast for a little bit" because she wouldn't be on the following week.
"I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the Chunnel to London after a week, and I'll be in London a second week doing my play, My First Ex-Husband, at the Boulevard Theatre in the West End,” Behar explained about her upcoming absence. “We have Jackie Hoffman and I [playing] the two American women talking, then we have two British actresses. Doesn't that sound like fun?”
In Paris, she is planning on doing playwriting at "various cafes."

"How fun is that?" she added.
On the May 29 episode of The View, Behar addressed the trip, saying, "I'm working. I have a planned trip overseas next week to work on my play, My First Ex-husband, in London."
Behar told her co-hosts that she would miss them, adding that she "will always miss the audience."

Some familiar faces will be filling in for Behar while she's away from The View. On Behind the Table, Teta said comedian and The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood will be sitting in for Behar "for two days" during the first week.
In addition to Underwood, journalist Kara Swisher will be filling in for Behar during her absence, as will co-host Ana Navarro. Whoopi Goldberg will appear on Fridays, which is not usually part of her schedule.
“I don't think she knows yet, but I'll let her know that she's going to be here,” Teta quipped on Behind the Table.

An exact date for Behar's return has not been announced, but on the May 29 episode, she said she will be gone for two weeks. The View viewers should look for her to be back behind the table sometime the week of June 15.
However, Behar will continue to appear on The Weekend View, since those episodes have been pre-taped.
