Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 expanded on the Outlander mythology through Jamie and Claire's respective parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie and Henry and Julia Beauchamp, across two timelines: 18th-century Scotland and the 20th century.

The first season of the prequel series tested both pairs of lovers as they navigated clan politics, time travel, and secret parentage. The death of Ellen's father left her clan in a politically dangerous situation. Julia and Henry longed to reunite after accidentally time-traveling through the Craigh Na Dun stones.

By the Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 finale, both Jamie and Claire's respective parents were reunited but their troubles were far from over. The 1715 Jacobite Rising and another time-traveling adventure threaten to pull the lovers apart again in the second season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, scheduled to be released on Starz on September 18.

Here's what happened in Season 1.

Brian and Ellen are the star-crossed lovers in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1. While Ellen is the daughter of one of the most elite clans in the Highlands, Brian is the illegitimate son of Simon Fraser, which made their reunion impossible.

While Ellen dreamt of becoming Brian's bride, her brothers Colum and Dougal fixed her marriage to Malcolm Grant to strengthen Clan MacKenzie's place and forge a new union with Clan Grant. Things came to a head when Ellen agreed to marry Malcolm only if Colum promised to leave Brian alone.

While Ellen prepared for her marriage to Malcolm, Colum sent the Gallowglass assassins for Brian. But Murtagh, who had feelings for Ellen, had a change of heart in the finale and saved his cousin's life. On realizing the assassins were sent by Colum, Brian headed to Castle Leoch to rescue Ellen.

With Jocasta's help, Brian reached Ellen at Castle Leoch in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 finale. After learning that Colum had not kept his end of the bargain, Ellen agreed to flee with Brian. But the lovers were stopped by a jilted Malcolm, who was accidentally killed by the pair in the process.

While Colum was furious with his sister, he had a more pressing matter. To save the failing alliance between Clan Mackenzie and Clan Grant, Colum arranged Dougal's marriage to Maura Grant, Malcolm's sister.

The biggest reveal inOutlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 came in the premiere. Claire's parents were fellow time travelers who accidentally time-traveled to 18th-century Scotland while Claire was with her Uncle Lamb.

A grave tragedy befell the lovers once they arrived in the past and they were separated. While Henry became an advisor for Clan Grant, Julia found herself in Castle Leathers, under the prying eyes of Simon Fraser. Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 proved that Henry and Julia's love was pure and each tried to reach the other. As for Julia and Henry, the pair was finally reunited in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 finale, after Julia escaped Castle Leathers with her baby. The pair headed to the stones, with Arch Bug and his men tailing them.
