Penn State misses out on yet another four star O-lineman

Despite the recent success of the Nittany Lions in terms of the 2027 recruiting cycle, the team has struggled at one key position of need: the offensive line. After a shocking decision made by four star prospect Layton Von Brandt to go to Auburn over both Notre Dame and the Blue and White, the Nittany Lions turned their attention to four star OT Carter Jones. Unfortunately, it was the same story all over again.

Instead of choosing the Nittany Lions, Jones decided to go with the Clemson Tigers. This comes just mere days after running back Gary Walker spurned the Nittany Lions in favor of the South Carolina school. Jones is yet another big loss as he was the 22nd ranked interior O-lineman in the class and 414th prospect overall according to 247Sports. Still, the Nittany Lions may have one more chance to salvage their lack of recruitment at the position.

For Matt Campbell, while losing out on another four star O-lineman isn't the end of the world with the class he's built, all four of the ones that have committed to play for him are three stars. Breaking through and adding a four star would be something that Matt Campbell would be able to cherish forever in his rebuild.

Now, attention pivots to the last option the Nittany Lions may have in four star Kyler Kuhn. Penn State may have to do battle with two other Big Ten schools in Nebraska and Iowa, who currently have the upper hand over the Blue and White in the race for Kuhn's signature. However, that does not mean Matt Campbell won't try and have his way in the race for Penn State's first four star O-lineman in their already fantastic 2027 class.
