Lakers jersey history No. 43 — Frank Brickowski

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.

During the Lakers' 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.

Frank Brickowski began his pro basketball career in Italy shortly after the New York Knicks took him in the third round of the 1981 NBA Draft. He made his debut in the NBA during the 1984-85 season with the Seattle SuperSonics, and he joined the Lakers as a free agent just before the 1986-87 season.

That year, he appeared in 37 games with the Lakers and averaged 3.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 10.9 minutes a game during that time. Midway through the campaign, they packaged him in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs for big man Mychal Thompson, who helped L.A. win the NBA championship in 1987 and 1988.

Brickowski, meanwhile, expanded his game afterward and started consistently averaging double figures in scoring. He retired after the 1996-97 season with career league averages of 10 points and 4.7 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game.
