King Charles's Sandringham cricket pitch could be in line for massive £9,000 upgrade

Sandringham and Dersingham Cricket Club, which uses the grounds of King Charles's Norfolk estate, is seeking permission to install a new all-weather artificial playing surface costing £9,000.
The club has submitted a planning application to the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.
According to the application, the upgraded facility would boost "playing and training hours for the local community" by enabling use in all conditions.
The artificial pitch would also safeguard "the natural turf square during wet weather or heavy use".
Both the club's junior and senior sections stand to benefit from the proposed improvement.
The Sandringham estate also serves as home to the Prince and Princess of Wales, whose country residence, Anmer Hall, sits within the grounds, where they stay with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Charlotte herself demonstrated notable cricketing talent in a family video published in May celebrating her 11th birthday, which showed her bowling on a Cornish beach.
Her technique drew praise from experts, with former England captain Mike Atherton writing: "Decent run-up slightly short in the stride, if one were to be critical good gather and, crucially, a straight arm and energetic follow through, eyes locked on where she wants to land the ball.
"She looks like she's enjoying it too."

In June, King Charles welcomed the Afghan Refugee Women's Cricket Team to the gardens of Clarence House.
The Afghan women's national cricket team was established in 2010 during the Afghan Republic era.
However, following the Taliban's seizure of power, the team lost its official status as a national side.
Women and girls in Afghanistan are now prohibited from participating in sport, alongside severe restrictions on their access to education, employment and public life.

The majority of the team's players fled their homeland and have since resettled in Australia.
There, they have established new lives as refugees while continuing to play cricket at club level on an informal basis.
The players also actively campaign for their team to regain official recognition.
King Charles visited Afghanistan twice as Prince of Wales.
He travelled to Kabul and Helmand in 2010 and 2012 to meet British military personnel serving there.
