An influencer is sparking rage on the internet after claiming a follower who "promised" to send her a shirt didn't follow through.
On Monday, Dec. 29, social media creator Tara Lynn (who goes by @taraswrld) made a plea to her followers when she was unable to find a specific shirt she wanted to wear for New Year's Eve.
"Girls, I need your help," she began in the clip shared to TikTok. "This is a really specific request, but if anyone that lives in the L.A. area has this halter top from For Love & Lemons in a size small or extra-small, can I please borrow it for New Year's Eve?"
Tara also showed a photo of the Pearly Bow Halter Top, which retails for $239.
She continued, "I need it. This is do or die for me. I want to wear this shirt so bad, but it's sold out everywhere. I looked everywhere. I scoured the internet."
The influencer recalled a similar situation working out in her favor. "For Coachella, I needed this specific tube top, and one of ya'll came through and Uber packaged it to me, and it was really kind," she said. "So if anyone has this halter top, I would really appreciate it."
The next day, Tara made a follow-up video saying that she had received several messages from followers offering to lend her the top, but they were asking for money in exchange.
She later made another video claiming that one of her followers told her she would send her the top but that she later "ghosted" her.
"One of my haters did something f----- up to me today," she said in the now-deleted post, per The Tab.
“She pretended she loved me so I wouldn’t go to the mall and find a shirt and then she ghosted me," Tara explained. "If I hated someone that much, I wouldn’t be able to pretend I loved them like she did. She’s f----- me over real bad, she hasn’t answered me in like three hours."
She continued, "4 p.m. rolls around, and I had to leave by 6 p.m.; she just stops answering. Never once tells me she had a shift to work, never mentioned work once, she just stopped answering till, like, midnight. So yeah, I was annoyed.”
On the deleted post, one user commented claiming that they were the follower who agreed to send the shirt. The user apologized, explaining that they were an ER nurse who was busy working on New Year's Eve.

“Hi everyone. It was me," the comment reads. "I am so sorry. I am a nurse and there’s so many sicknesses going around and it was SO short staffed. And I had to stay overtime, I just got off and it’s 3am. I have apologized to Tara. There were many patients in the emergency room tonight , I’m not a hater I still do love her content.”

Tara wrote back, "If u knew u were going to be working u shouldn't have offered OR you could have told me that so we could have worked around it! like respectfully gimme a break."
TikTok users were quick to criticize Tara for what they saw as an attack on an ER nurse and flooded the comments section of a video the influencer made defending herself.
"Putting an essential worker on blast to 5M people over a shirt and then telling everyone it’s not that deep is wild," one user wrote.
"I was on your side until you told the ER nurse to give you a break lol" another wrote.

Some, however, think that the user who promised to send Tara the shirt is not actually a nurse — or real at all. At the time of publishing, the TikTok account had only two videos posted, one which includes alleged screenshots from a conversation with Tara.
"if you're lying you're actually so funny for that and ily," one comment on the post reads.
"this is definitely a young kid please 😭," said another.
Tara also expressed skepticism in a TikTok video shared on Monday, Jan. 5.
"There ain't no way that girl is a nurse," she said with a laugh. "First of all, when she first DMed me, she already had, like, 200,000 followers, yet she has no profile picture, zero posts, no link to an Instagram. I'm like, 'You either bought those followers or you bought this account."
Tara also claimed that the account had shared "super fake" photos that some other TikTok users deemed to be AI-generated.
PEOPLE reached out to both TikTok creators for comment but did not immediately hear back.
