TV chef Giada DeLaurentiis is one proud mama on Dec. 14 after her only child, daughter Jade Thompson, was accepted to college! The former Food Network icon shared a sweet video standing by her little girl while she opened her digital acceptance letter, and the heartwarming moment made fans a little emotional.

"Hey guys, this is me seeing if I get into college," Jade, 17, said as she began the video with DeLaurentiis smiling behind her. Though she seems excited at first, she quickly becomes nervous. "I'm actually so scared, I can't click the button. I can't do it... What if I don't get in?"

"If we don't get in, we'll go to, you know, phase two," DeLaurentiis sweetly reassured her mini-me. Luckily, that won't be necessary, because Jade was accepted! The pair jumped up and down, screamed, and hugged while celebrating the happy news.

"It's my honor and privilege to share with you that you've been admitted," Jade read. "Oh my God, I got in! Thank god!"

Jade's father and DeLaurentiis' ex-husband, Todd Thompson, was also a part of the special moment. On the phone, he could be heard congratulating his daughter, saying, "Hey, this is the biggest accomplishment of your life," when Jade chimed in, "So far!"

"Proud is an understatement, Jadey’s going to college!" DeLaurentiis wrote on the post. Famous friends and fans alike quickly flooded the comments section with love. "Lord, I remember when you announced you were expecting a child and then seeing Jade on your show after she was born. Congratulations Jade!!" said one fan, while another added, "Love how she said SO FAR! This young woman has some big plans! Congrats!"

Valerie Bertinelli wrote, "The sweeeetest [red heart emojis href="https://parade.com/living/emoji-combos-funny-cute"] Congratulations!" and Ricki Lake added, "Yayyayaayayayayay!"

Jade did not announce which college she had been accepted to, but it's clear she has an interest in music and musical theater. Many of her videos on social media show her singing, and in the summer of 2025, the cookbook author shared clips of Jade performing in a production of Come From Away at the Stagedoor Manor theater camp. Fans can't wait to see what she does next!
