‘CBS Evening News’ Ratings Revealed After Shocking ’60 Minutes’ Firings

The latest evening news ratings are in, and it was bad news across the board for the three major networks, with CBS Evening News hit particularly hard in its week-over-week numbers.
According to AdWeek, citing national live+same-day big data plus program ratings from Nielsen, CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupilaveraged 3.787 million total viewers and 493,000 viewers in the coveted Adults 25-54 demographic for the week of May 25.
Compared to the previous week, the show was down 6 percent in total viewers and down 19 percent in the demo. This marked a downturn after recent rises for CBS Evening News.
The show's ratings drop came the same week CBS News fired60 Minutes executive producers Tanya Simon and Draggan Mihailovich, as well as correspondents Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi, and a week after Anderson Cooper said his final farewell to the program.
However, CBS Evening News was up slightly on the same period last year, increasing by 5 percent in total viewers and 1 percent in the key demo.
Elsewhere, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir led the week with an average of 7.824 million total viewers and 961,000 demo viewers. This was down 4 percent in viewers and down 1 percent in the demo compared to the week prior.

Compared to the same period in 2025, World News Tonight was up 11 percent in total viewers and up 9 percent in the demo.
Meanwhile, NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas finished in second place with 5.955 million total viewers and 800,000 demo viewers for the week of May 25. This was down by 2 percent in total viewers and down 8 percent in the demo compared to the week before.
Nightly News was up 4 percent in total viewers compared to the same period last year but down 4 percent in the demo, making it the only newscast to post a decline in this category.
