Spoiler alert: Do not read on if you don't want to learn plot details about the new Scary Movie, now in theaters

"Carmen Electra says she's "so down to make fun" of herself — which, she jokes, makes her a natural fit for the Scary Movie franchise. "It makes sense that I'd be in these movies, right?"

Spoilers follow for theScary Moviesequel-reboot (in theaters now), from writer-stars Marlon and Shawn Wayans, who originally created the hit horror-spoof franchise. Electra, 54, makes a winking cameo appearance as a bartender in the opening scene of the new installment — just like she did in the Scream-parodying opener of 2000'sScary Movie.

"I was just over the moon to get that call to be in this one again," the dancer-actress tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I love working with the Wayans and to get the chance to work with them again has been such an honor and so much fun."

How did Electra's cameo come about? While she's unclear exactly how the Wayans' offer came together, a February TMZ video interview teasing her possible involvement "might have been a huge part of it," she says. "Soon after, I got a call to fly out to Atlanta to shoot at Tyler Perry Studios [in Atlanta]."

More spoilers follow: Teyana Taylor joins Electra in the new movie's opening scene, also playing a version of herself. The sequence begins at a bar where Taylor, 35, is on the phone waiting for a date; in a direct parody of 2023's Scream VI, she then encounters masked serial killer Ghostface in a nearby alley.

"She has a lot to do in the scene," Electra teases of the One Battle After Another Oscar nominee. She adds with a laugh that Taylor is "just so gorgeous and has this ridiculous body — I was like, 'I want that stomach.'"

Marveling that it's been 25 years since her first Scary Movie appearance (she also played a different character in 2006's Scary Movie 4), Electra calls the Wayans siblings "the best thing about" the franchise. Marlon, Shawn and original director Keenen Ivory Wayans co-wrote the first film and its 2001 sequel; they were then not invited back for the franchise's third, fourth and fifth installments.

"I just think it's really cool that I was brought back again with the original cast Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon and Shawn Wayans," says Electra, who walked the carpet at the Wednesday, June 3 Los Angeles premiere with those stars. "I mean, it gets no better than that."

The new Scary Movie, directed by Michael Tiddes, is in theaters now.
